Renewed Vision Series begins Sept. 27 with conversation on climate change

George Mason 麻豆国产鈥檚 Office of the Provost is hosting the Mason , a monthly forum to showcase exemplary real-world research and scholarship that takes place every day on George Mason 麻豆国产 campuses.

The first event this semester features Jagadish Shukla, Distinguished 麻豆国产 Professor and managing director of the Center for Ocean-Land-Atmosphere Studies, who will address 鈥Climate Change: Science,聽Politics and Ethics.鈥

Shukla will talk about the physical science of climate change, as well as the many social, economic, ethical, political, and social justice challenges it presents. There are reasons to be hopeful about climate solutions, he said.

鈥淲hat we do in the next few聽decades will determine which planet we will leave to our children,鈥 he said. 鈥淚f we act decisively and dramatically to achieve net zero emissions by mid-century, we still have a chance to avoid climate change鈥檚 most catastrophic impacts"
