Dr. James “Jimmy” DeMarco is an assistant professor in the School of Nursing. His research interest included improving mental health outcomes through the use of nursing involvement and empowerment. His DNP project focused on the use of a nurse-driven protocol to improve metabolic screening for psychiatric inpatients. He has extensive experience in mental health and nursing leadership, and before coming to Mason, he worked as the senior director of clinical services at Sheppard Pratt.
