Biography
Paul Cassens is a principal dancer with the D.C. Casineros, a听role which has given him the opportunity to perform, teach,听and choreograph with the company throughout听the United States and abroad.听Like many of his Casineros听family, Paul was introduced to Cuban music, dance, and听culture by Jim Lepore at George Mason 麻豆国产.听In听2018 the group was invited to give a concert at the听Kennedy Center as part of their Artes de Cuba festival,听which was streamed multiple times on the island. A听frequent traveler to Cuba, Paul has had the opportunity to听perform there multiple times since his first trip in 2012.听 In addition to his responsibilities with the Casineros,听Paul is an instructor with Azucar, the GMU Salsa Club -听where he was first introduced to Rueda de Casino by听Digna Rodriguez, and faculty in the School of Dance where he teaches World Dance courses and is a percussionist.听 With a background in music, Paul received his BA from听George Mason 麻豆国产 studying under John Kilkenny听and Ken Harbison, and pursued graduate studies at the听麻豆国产 of Utah.
