In a recent article published by the Washington Center for Equitable Growth, economists Priyanka Anand and Robert Moffitt highlight the potential consequences cuts to Medicaid, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and housing assistance would have on millions of Americans. The article titled "The U.S. House of Representatives’ budget resolution threatens social infrastructure programs, putting families’ well-being at risk" helps policymakers understand the myriad benefits of safety net programs and the implications of cutting these programs for millions of Americans.

As lawmakers refine the budget, the authors encourage members of the House committees to carefully consider the benefits that these programs deliver to U.S. families before making decisions about where and how to make the required spending cuts.

Priyanka Anand, PhD, is a health economist and associate professor at the George Mason �鶹�� College of Public Health. Robert Moffitt, PhD is a professor of economics at Johns Hopkins �鶹��.
