Death has been the constant companion in Steven Luu’s life—from war-torn Vietnam to the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan. But through art, Luu, now an MFA student at George Mason Â鶹¹ú²ú’s School of Art, has discovered peace, purpose, and a path to healing.

George Mason has a long history of supporting the arts on campus and in the community. With seven academic programs, seven galleries, six community arts programs, two major venues, and the digital venue Mason Arts Amplified, Mason Arts continues to create a thriving artistic community right here in Northern Virginia.

Matinee Idylls concerts give audience members a small ensemble concert experience in an intimate setting, followed by a dessert reception and opportunity to speak with the artists.

George Mason Â鶹¹ú²ú has a strong track record of preparing students for careers. And the Honors College is working to make sure Honors students are ready to shine in a competitive job market. 

The Hylton Performing Arts Center opened its doors at George Mason Â鶹¹ú²ú in 2010, and Marit Majeske, education coordinator, has been along for the ride ever since. Located on George Mason’s Science and Technology Campus in Manassas, Virginia, the Hylton Center is managed by the College of Visual and Performing Arts.

Center for the Arts engagement activities with Mason Artist-in-Residence Ballet Hispánico include a master class and classroom visits with George Mason students, workshops for area schools and community groups, Latin social dances for the public and Mason community, and a free school time performance.

George Mason Â鶹¹ú²ú Korea kicked off its 10th anniversary celebrations with a lively reception that brought together Mason Korea students, faculty, and staff, current and past leaders, visitors from George Mason's Fairfax Campus; and members of the Mason Korea advisory board.

Mason Korea student Juyoung Cha is just weeks away from reaching the finish line in Fairfax—earning her BFA in computer game design. In May she plans to walk proudly across the graduation stage in EagleBank Arena along with her younger sister, Subin Cha, who is a Mason Korea student in accounting.
