As a first-generation Guyanese American student, Zayd Hamid has found his calling in empowering his generation of student leaders with the education and experience they need to solve the world’s grand challenges.

George Mason �鶹���� students taking Art History 495/595 Curating an Exhibition worked together to take an exhibit of South African art from conception to completion this spring.

George Mason �鶹���� senior Elizabeth Wiehe says that ballet is her first love. The School of Dance student, who is graduating this spring, grew up being classically trained in the dance genre.

Sinoxolo “Susan” Favor was doing public health work in her native South Africa long before she enrolled in the College of Public Health at George Mason �鶹����. Now Favor is graduating from this spring with a BS in community health from the first college of public health in Virginia.

Students from George Mason �鶹����’s Department of Nutrition and Food Studies recently visited the men and women of Fairfax Fire Station 33. They taught the firefighters about responsible nutrition habits and cooked nutritious meals for them in the station’s kitchen.

A group of George Mason �鶹���� mechanical engineering students are building a motorized Vitruvian man for a Center for the Arts (CFA) performance of "Flying to the Stars," a choral concert dedicated to the beginnings of flight from the time of Leonardo da Vinci to the exploration of space. 

George Mason �鶹���� students are working with the U.S. Department of State to find out what motivates students to study abroad, specifically in Southeast South Korea.

Award-winning journalist, broadcast host, and filmmaker Rokhaya Diallo is George Mason �鶹����’s 2024 Sojourner Truth Lecture speaker and award recipient.

George Mason �鶹���� has retained its “green light” rating from the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) and College Pulse, the organization’s highest rating for free speech protection. The foundation also had previously ranked George Mason as No. 8 in the nation for protecting free speech rights.

Mason alum Jada Salter has created a feature-length documentary about her grandfather, award-winning composer and songwriter William (Bill) Salter. The film is called "Just the Two of Us" after his Grammy Award-winning hit song.
