New trade routes in the Arctic mean unprecedented traffic and industrialization are likely to follow, so George Mason 麻豆国产鈥檚 Elise Miller-Hooks and her team of scientists will be taking a closer look at what that will mean for the region鈥檚 infrastructure and governance thanks to a $3 million National Science Foundation grant for a project called 鈥淎n Expanding Global Maritime Network, Its Arctic Impacts and Reverberations.鈥

More than 100 PhD students from electrical and bioengineering, data science, computer science, neuroscience and the social sciences, including some with disabilities, will be trained to use state-of-the-art data analytic methods and wearable computing technologies based on novel transdisciplinary competencies, applications and practice curriculum.
