To mark Transit Driver Appreciation Day, the George Mason �鶹���� community expressed gratitude for the public transit drivers who help the Mason Nation get to school, work, and around town.

George Mason �鶹����’s Potomac Science Center hosted the Girls in STEAM Empowerment Conference on Thursday, February 29. This annual event welcomed 60 middle school students for a day of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM).

Rachel Wernicke has worked as an Army officer, psychologist, therapist, and coach. In 2019, she moved into her current role: associate dean and chief mental health officer at George Mason �鶹����.

George Mason �鶹����’s Contemporary Student Services has been recognized by the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) for its innovative approach to serving post-traditional and off-campus students.

Doug McKenna is university registrar at George Mason �鶹����. Many things change over the years at a college or university, but the university registrar serves as the guardian of something permanent. “I’m responsible for maintaining the student record in perpetuity,” said McKenna.

Arion Lillard-Green, already a Mason alum, returned to complete her PhD in health services research.

Will Gautney started working at George Mason �鶹����’s Center for the Arts as a part-time stagehand in 2013. The job involved lots of lifting, building, and prep work for shows. In 2018, he was hired full-time as assistant master electrician, his current role. He is also chair of Mason's Staff Senate.

As the weather cools off, fall is the perfect time to explore the outdoors. George Mason �鶹���� offers students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to get outside and form connections with others in the Mason community through the Outdoor Adventures program, part of Mason Recreation.

George Mason �鶹����’s Fall Career Fair, hosted by �鶹���� Career Services on the Fairfax Campus, connected students and alumni with prospective employers on Sept. 27–28.

As employer engagement consultant with �鶹���� Career Services at George Mason �鶹����, Jneva Norfleet connects organizations with qualified talent from Mason, helping Mason students and graduates achieve their career goals. Outside work, Norfleet hones other talents of her own—she is a Toastmasters champion and a spoken word artist who shares her poetry to inspire others.
