Derek Horstmeyer, who specializes in corporate finance at Mason’s School of Business, has guided about 15 students with independent research projects and then helped them get recognition for their work.

Nearly 100 Mason students presented the results of their summer multidisciplinary research and creative projects on Aug. 5-6 in a virtual celebration of student scholarship.

This fall, George Mason �鶹���� students will be eligible to apply for Greater Washington Partnership’s Capital CoLAB Digital Tech Credential Scholarships for Minorities and Women. The scholarships are part of an effort to encourage underrepresented students to gain digital skills.

The Atlantic 10 Conference announced in June that 332 of George Mason �鶹����’s student-athletes earned the Commissioner’s Honor Roll distinction for the 2020-21 academic year. Mason recorded the second highest number of honorees behind �鶹���� of Massachusetts, which had one additional student honored.

Of the 108 Northern Virginia graduating seniors who participated in the university's Early Identification Program, 48 have chosen to attend Mason. Twenty-eight of those students have been awarded partial or full scholarships.

INTO Mason offers both undergraduate and graduate pathway programs for international students who want to study at Mason. A partnership between Mason and INTO �鶹���� Partnerships, INTO Mason supports a diverse group of students, according to its website, “from application to graduation.”

As companies throughout the country transition from remote work back to the office, employers can help their employees through the process by giving them a voice and options, said George Mason �鶹���� School of Business professor Victoria Grady.

As Mason faculty members reflect on their experiences teaching during a global pandemic, they say they’ve learned some lessons they’ll bring into the return to a more traditional academic year.

Students pursuing an MS in management through Mason’s School of Business usually spend four months getting work experience through internships at local companies. This year, however, due to the coronavirus pandemic, administrators had to think creatively. So instead, they asked local businesses what they thought of hiring students to do remote “researchships.”
