Right before Earth Day, Small Island Big Song presents a "jaw-dropping" (Billboard) concert experience at the Center for the Arts on April 20, combining music, spoken word, and stunning projections to showcase unique oceanic grooves and soulful island ballads, while shining a light on the devastating effects of climate crisis on our world’s oceans. As a Mason Artist-in-Residence, Small Island Big Song will also deeply engage with the community through a series of education and engagement programs.

Mason is following a philanthropic tradition, designating the first Thursday of April for donors to come together to support the university. On April 4, 2024, Mason Vision Day celebrates the power of making a difference through philanthropy.

Mason's Alumni Association has established the Amy Takayama-Perez Memorial Student Book Award to honor Mason alumna and former colleague Amy Takayama-Perez, BA Sociology ’96, MEd ’02.

George Mason �鶹���� student researchers were among those that gathered on the Fairfax Campus in March for the Access to Research and Inclusive Excellence (ARIE) National Conference. In addition to speakers and breakout sessions on various topics, the two-day conference opened with a poster session with 49 groups presenting their research.

The college that now bears Donald G. Costello’s name is a fitting testament to his entrepreneurial legacy. This extends not only to coursework and outreach programs, which have long stressed entrepreneurship, but also to the faculty’s research expertise. Indeed, a number of Costello College of Business professors were key contributors to Mason’s being named the #2 university for entrepreneurship research in North America by independent ratings agency EduRank.

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin has appointed Farnaz Farkish Thompson, a partner in the Washington, D.C., office of McGuireWoods LLP, to the George Mason �鶹���� Board of Visitors (BOV).

Barbara Humpton, president and CEO of Siemens, will be the featured speaker at Mason’s 2024 Spring Commencement. The ceremony is set for 10 a.m. Thursday, May 9, in EagleBank Arena on the Fairfax Campus.

A group of scientists from George Mason �鶹����’s College of Science are calling the Page and Shenandoah County wildfires a “wake-up call” for Virginia and the Eastern Seaboard that heralds the increasing threat of wildfire to the region as the climate continues to change.

On March 21, 2024, Break Through Tech Mason hosted "A Day in the Life: Tech Jobs Unveiled," a panel event featuring Jamie Bowers, Site Reliability Engineer at Microsoft; Veeraj Modi, Security Analyst at Microsoft; and Cassandra Rothrauff, Senior Computer Engineer at Booz Allen Hamilton. Each panelist discussed their path in the tech industry as well as advice they would offer students just starting out.

George Mason �鶹���� students are working with the U.S. Department of State to find out what motivates students to study abroad, specifically in Southeast South Korea.

Started as a way to give more women a seat at the publishing table, "So to Speak", Mason's feminist journal for art and writing, gives creatives with diverse perspectives and backgrounds a place to shine.

George Mason �鶹���� will consolidate programs and activities currently offered at the Loudoun instructional site, colocated with Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA), to Fairfax and Mason Square.
