Multiple national college rankings released in recent weeks have placed George Mason �鶹���� among America’s top 50 public universities, top 100 among all public and private institutions, and Virginia’s No. 1 public university for social mobility.

Mason psychology professor Tara Chaplin has been awarded a National Institutes of Health Independent Research Scientist Award for her research on understanding the role of parenting and emotional arousal in the development of substance use in adolescence.

The Green Studio, located on George Mason �鶹����’s Fairfax Campus, is a permaculture garden, outdoor studio, and lab space dedicated to hosting ecological art and design projects by students from across the arts and sciences. Jennifer Ashworth wanted to elevate the space in preparation for more student projects in the future. She applied for funding through �鶹���� Sustainability’s Patriot Green Fund and was granted financial support to revamp the garden in preparation for the new academic year.

Mason Night at Nationals Park on Sept. 6 was a hit. The Nationals beat the Mets 3-2 and Mason faculty, staff were there to cheer them on.
