A recent SCHEV-conducted analysis of Virginia’s public four-year institutions shows George Mason �鶹���� topping or leading most peers in a variety of metrics, including growth, opportunity, value, efficiency, return on investment, and state economic impact. President Gregory Washington reviewed the data with the Board of Visitors at the governing body’s Feb. 22 meeting.

The Philadelphia Dance Company, better known as PHILADANCO!, is widely recognized for its artistic integrity, superbly trained dancers, and electrifying performances. On March 15, PHILADANCO! will perform a dynamic program at the Hylton Performing Arts Center and, as a Hylton Center Artist-in-Residence, members of the company and artistic staff will also work with the community through classes, workshops, and discussions surrounding their performance.

George Mason �鶹���� has retained its “green light” rating from the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) and College Pulse, the organization’s highest rating for free speech protection. The foundation also had previously ranked George Mason as No. 8 in the nation for protecting free speech rights.

On Feb. 22, Fall for the Book hosts 2024 Mini Fest with seven authors and five events that span the genre gambit on Mason’s Fairfax Campus.

George Mason �鶹���� Facilities has installed 23 Bigbelly zero waste stations on the Fairfax and Mason Square campuses. These solar-powered stations support Mason’s recycling and composting goals through their user-friendly design, technology upgrades, and capacity-based alerts. 

Mason has joined more than 200 of the nation’s leading artificial intelligence (AI) stakeholders to participate in a Department of Commerce initiative to support the development and deployment of trustworthy and safe AI.

Audiences at the Hylton Center will soon see a unique name adorning the halls of the Education and Rehearsal Wing. An anonymous donor has recently included the Hylton Center in their estate plans, and as such, the Hylton Center has recognized their outstanding generosity by naming the first of two classrooms in the Education and Rehearsal Hall the “Koko H. Beetle Classroom.”
